Highlanders Subdue Tacoma, 3-1
|
The Asheville Highlanders got a stellar performance from pitcher Patrick Nicolas, who handcuffed the Tacoma offense en route to a 3-1 win at Ballpark of Tacoma. Nicolas picked up the win for Asheville, going 5.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 4-3. Jeffery Johnston was called on to finish, recording his 12th save.
Asheville used the timely hitting of José García to capture the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Highlanders on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Asheville manager William Franklin.
The 9th-place Fur Traders have lost 4 consecutive games.
