Rocks Get Road Win, 5-2
|
The Plymouth Rocks knocked off the Alloway Halberds, 5-2, at Ballpark of Alloway. Jesús Guillén, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Plymouth won. The right fielder was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Melvin Turner, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 11-4. The Halberds, now 35-60, have lost 5 straight.
Guillén contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Plymouth in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-0, Guillén took a fastball from Joel Farrell and stroked the home run to right. His 14th home run of the season allowed the Rocks to leap in front, 4-2.
