Lake Monsters Bang Out 6-0 Win Versus Tortolita
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters picked up a win at Monster Field, knocking off the Tortolita Drummers, 6-0. On the mound for Vermont was right-hander Greg Hoover, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winning pitcher was Hoover, now 5-2. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. The win puts the Lake Monsters at 57-37, while the Drummers drop to 58-36.
Miracle Crimes had a big bases-clearing triple for the Lake Monsters in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Vermont leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Risto Hannila and stroked the triple to right-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lake Monsters ahead, 4-0.
Crimes called the win "a collective effort."
