Victory Pushes Silver Sox Record to 40-33
|
Chicago starter Rhys Maskell had a strong outing against the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at Silver Sox Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 6-4 win. Maskell, now 6-9, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs. Stanford McCain locked down his 1st save.
The Silver Sox got a big at-bat from first baseman Garm van Opdorp. For the game, van Opdorp was 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 64th hit of the season gave Chicago a 4-2 lead.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Maskell.
The 4th-place Silver Sox improved to 40-33.
