Rails Topple Blimps with Late Rally
Akron got a terrific game from third baseman Donnie Magee. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Richland, 8-5. Magee was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Richland reliever Jim Perry picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Kazuhiko Higuchi was collared with the loss. Richland is off to a hot start at 13-5.

Richland used the timely hitting of Hui-ying Sun to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rails on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Sun after the game.
