Highlanders Top Fur Traders to Even Record

The Asheville Highlanders beat the Tacoma Fur Traders, 4-2, at Asheville Park. The Highlanders got a fine performance from right fielder Kevin McIndeor, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. David Fuentes got the win, improving to 1-1. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 3. The defending champion Highlanders have struggled a bit to find their groove this season, but improve to 8-8 with the win.
McIndeor had a key at-bat for Asheville early in the game. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and gave Asheville an early 4-1 lead.
"I felt good up there," said McIndeor. "I saw the ball well."
