Nationals Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Atoms
|
The Bethesda Atoms wasted an inspired, 7.1-inning effort from starter Tim Tate, falling 2-1 to the Ottawa Nationals at Nationals Park. The win was Jeff McBride's in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Tim Tate took the loss for Bethesda. Aki Sato earned the save for Ottawa, his 2nd of the year.
Sean Urien aided the Ottawa cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the second baseman drew 1 walk in 3 plate appearances.
"We were in it," said Bethesda manager Chris Johnson. "We just didn't score enough runs."
The Nationals, with just their 3rd win so far in 2039, have yet to catch fire.
