Florida Men starter Jorge Oyas was in fine form against the Syracuse Starks at Psychos Ballpark, leading his team to a 5-3 win. Oyas, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 4, walking 6, and allowing no earned runs. Joseph Merle notched his 14th save in 17 chances.

Silvio Capitanio had a big run-scoring double for the Men in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Florida leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Goodluck Obasanjo and stroked the double to right. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Men ahead, 3-1.

"Good win," said Oyas. "Maybe some of the whiners in the clubhouse will pipe down for a little while now."

Florida has now won 3 in a row.
