Atoms Stun Nationals, 10-8
|
The Bethesda Atoms knocked off the Ottawa Nationals, 10-8, at Nationals Park. Brent Leroy, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Bethesda won. The left fielder was 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win was Sébastien Leroy's in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Dong Zhào took the loss for Ottawa. With the win, Bethesda goes to 6-4.
Leroy had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 1-1 splitter from Dong Zhào, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Atoms a 10-8 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Leroy.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Leroy told the Bethesda Today.
