Browns Solve Divided, 5-2
|
The Cleveland Browns stymied the D.C. Divided, 5-2, at Washington Stadium. Sadatake Abe, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Cleveland. Jay Cannon picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-5. He struck out 3 in 5.1 innings. The 6th-place Browns improved to 46-44.
Jack Bonner helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a run-scoring double to give Cleveland a 1-0 lead.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Bonner told the Cleveland News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
