1837 BBC Top Lakers, 5-2
|
Houston and Echo Park got after it at LA Forum.
The Houston 1837 BBC dealt the Echo Park Lakers a loss at LA Forum. The final score was 5-2. Javier Seco was named player of the game for Houston. In addition to his 2 singles and 1 triple, he scored 1 run and drove in 2. Houston reliever Gil Herrera picked up the win, upping his record to 6-1. Jordan Calhoun shouldered the loss. Jeffery Meyers earned the save, his 6th, for the 1837 BBC.
Houston used the timely hitting of Ramiro Palmeiro to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the 1837 BBC on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Despite the victory, Seco was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
The 1837 BBC go to 42-34, putting them 4th in the Third League.
