Rainbow Mermaids Turn Back Las Vegas, 4-3
|
Northern Virginia beat Las Vegas at Atlantica, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Ton Jobse, who earned player of the game honors. In 8.1 innings, Jobse surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Brewster Warble was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 19 save opportunities.
Rob Brooks, who is tied for 7th in the PL in RBI with 49, chipped in for Northern Virginia with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Northern Virginia manager David Lister. "It's usually not just one thing."
The third-place Rainbow Mermaids have won 5 straight games.
