Rocketeers Need Extras to Top Piranhas
|
The Panama City Piranhas got a sterling performance from pitcher Román Mejía, but the Rocketeers still prevailed, 5-2. Mejía was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 8 innings of 7-hit ball. The winner was Seattle reliever Kenny Luker, now 1-2. The loser was Marvin Sidebottom. The first-place Rocketeers have won 7 straight games.
Claudio Tappen hit a 2-run triple off Marvin Sidebottom in the top of the 14th, which put the Rocketeers in front, 4-2. Tappen had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 6.
"This is truly a great team to play with," Tappen said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."
