BC Score Late, Upend Patriots, 5-4
|
Getting a good performance from first baseman Eddie Sachs, the Philadelphia 1776 BC defeated the Boston Patriots, 5-4. Sachs was 2-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs for the BC. Philadelphia 1776 reliever Amando Codes picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Jorge Gil took the loss. Blair Wright recorded the save for Philadelphia 1776, his 15th of the season.
Had Sachs not come through in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Sachs hit a 2-run double. The BC never looked back after taking the 5-4 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Sachs. "And not try to do too much."
Even with the win, the BC have a dismal 21-42 record.
