Hines Slugs Stingers to 5-2 Win
|
Toledo designated hitter Dan Hines was instrumental in his team's 5-2 win over the Panama City Piranhas. Hines went 2-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Stingers. The Piranhas, now 20-30, have lost 4 straight.
One important at-bat came with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the eighth inning. Facing Panama City hurler Marvin Sidebottom, Pedro Serano, who is tied for 4th in the 3L in total bases with 109, hit a single. The Stingers went on to win.
"We played hard and won," said Hines. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
