The Syracuse Starks picked up a win at Ballpark of Port Royal, knocking off the Port Royal Disaster, 5-3. Starting pitcher Ollie McDaniell, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. McDaniell picked up the win for Syracuse, going 7 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 3-5. This win makes it 8 in a row for Syracuse.
The Starks grabbed the lead in the top of the fourth. With one out, Atanza Vongor, who is tied for 6th in the SAAA in stolen bases with 16, hit a 2-run home run off Dean Cross, putting Syracuse in front, 5-2. For Vongor, it was his 7th home run of the season.
Vongor attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
