Rainbow Mermaids Losing Streak at 5 After Extra-Inning Loss to Patriots
The Boston Patriots scored a 9-8 win versus the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at Dunkin Donuts Park. Boston pitcher Firpo Marberry nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. The Rainbow Mermaids, now 36-23, have lost 5 in a row.

Boston took a 9-8 lead on Brevyn Spann-Ford's 20th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Spann-Ford hit in the bottom of the 20th, left Northern Virginia pitcher Kent Randall shaking his head.

"This place was rocking at the end," Marberry said.
