Tomás Costello had a hand in Tortolita defeating Syracuse by the score of 3-2. Costello went 1 for 2 at the plate, scoring 1 times and driving in 1 runs. Briggs Bourgeois picked up the save, his 6th. The second-place Drummers improved to 39-24.
Tortolita used the timely hitting of Armando Chamú to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Drummers ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"This team is on a mission," said Chamú, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus."
