Loss Extends Syracuse Losing Streak

The Tortolita Drummers picked up a win at Stark Stadium, knocking off the Syracuse Starks, 7-2. Starting pitcher Shigochiyo Tanaka, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. In 6 innings, Tanaka surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Syracuse now has a 7-game losing streak.
Tortolita needed the clutch hitting of Mason Congdon to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Drummers on top, 4-1. For the game, Congdon had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
