Vermont and Tortolita got after it at Drummers Ballpark.

Vermont starter Santiago Pérez pitched effectively against the Tortolita Drummers at Drummers Ballpark. The left-hander led his team to a 5-2 win. Pérez, now 3-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 2, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. Billy Threepwood earned the save for Vermont, his 1st of the year.

Vermont used the clutch hitting of Dragoljub Kandic to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Lake Monsters ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Kandic. "But I have better dreams after a win."

The win puts the Lake Monsters at 31-21, while the Drummers drop to 31-21.
