Men Covarrubias Silences Phoenix
Pancho Covarrubias of the Florida Men spun his magic on the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves today. He blanked them 11-0 on 5 hits, registering 7 strikeouts and 1 walk.

"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Covarrubias said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."

Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, Florida skipper Joseph Fish said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations."

"Pancho pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said.

This season Covarrubias has a 2-2 mark in 6 starts with a 2.21 ERA. He has given up 32 hits in 36.2 innings, struck out 22 and issued 9 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .241 batting average against him.
