Halberds Clip Starks in Tight Contest
|
Alloway starter Bob Bolen pitched effectively against the Syracuse Starks at Ballpark of Alloway. The left-hander led his team to a 5-3 win. Manuel Montero got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Frank Butler recorded the save for Alloway, his 4th of the season.
Had Seung-min Sin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Sin hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Halberds.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Sin.
Syracuse has now lost 4 straight.
