Drummers Stymie Syracuse, Take 7-0 Win
|
The Syracuse Starks and Tortolita Drummers brought some excitement to Stark Stadium.
The Tortolita Drummers beat the Syracuse Starks, 7-0, at Stark Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder Askari bin Idris, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. Tortolita reliever Ismael Calderón picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Chris Hughes was saddled with the loss.
The Drummers grabbed the lead in the top of the first. With one out, Ken Moore hit a 2-run home run off Chris Hughes, putting Tortolita in front, 4-0. For Moore, it was his 3rd home run of the season.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Syracuse manager Kenny Billings.
Tortolita, at 17-12, sits in third place in the Silver AAA.
