Dodos Shut Out Men
|
The Hialeah Dodos beat the Florida Men, 7-0, at Dodos Ballpark. The Dodos got a fine performance from shortstop Sergio San Martín, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. The winner was Hialeah reliever John Wallbank, now 2-0. The loser was Tim Sharp. Hakan Yilmanz nailed down his 1st save.
Amon-Ra St. Brown had a big 2-run double for the Dodos in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Hialeah leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a curveball from Robert Cagle and stroked the double to left. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dodos ahead, 4-0.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," San Martín told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
The Dodos, now 6-13, have not found much traction so far in 2039.
