The Alloway Halberds beat the Vermont Lake Monsters, 6-4, at Monster Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Myron Rosenbalm, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Frank Butler closed it out for his 3rd save. Losses have been few and far between for the Lake Monsters so far this season. Their record drops to 11-5.
Manny Gonzáles had a big 2-run single for the Halberds in the top of the third inning. With Alloway leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Mike Hess and stroked the single to right-center. It was his 22nd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Halberds ahead, 4-1.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Gonzáles.
