Bronze Sox Prevail, 7-5, Over Calgary
|
Texas second baseman Barney Heise made his presence felt in the 7-5 Bronze Sox triumph over the Calgary Lynx. Heise went 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Roberto Muñóz, the winner, improved to 8-9. He held the Lynx to 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Earning his 22nd save for Texas was Hercules Mata'afa.
Heise contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Texas in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-0, Heise took a fastball from Rafael González and stroked the home run to left. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Bronze Sox to leap in front, 3-2.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Heise told the Texas News.
The Bronze Sox now have a record of 32-67.
