The Hialeah Dodos topped the Port Royal Disaster, 9-7, with designated hitter Paul Byrd playing a big role. Byrd was 4 for 6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Dodos in the win. Sergio Vargas locked down his 1st save. The loss drops Port Royal to 6-5.

Hialeah used the clutch hitting of Richard Sonntag to capture the win. The catcher drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Dodos ahead, 8-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"Enjoyed this one," Sonntag told the Hialeah Bulletin. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
