Redlegs Prevail, 8-6, Over Jersey City
|
The Sacramento Redlegs outlasted Jason Schneider and the Jersey City Tritons, 8-6. Schneider was impressive in the loss. The Jersey City designated hitter was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. César Sandoval got the win, improving to 2-1. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Binjimen Victor earned his 13th save in 15 chances.
Nigel Sturges made an early impact for Sacramento when he stroked his 89th hit of the season. The 2-run single, which came with two out in the top of the third, put the Redlegs on top, 3-0.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Rich Hunter.
Sacramento now owns a record of 50-46.
