In a tight game between the Syracuse Starks and the Plymouth Rocks, pitcher Robinson Suárez was terrific on the mound. The Syracuse right-hander was named the player of the game in Syracuse's 2-0 win. Suárez picked up the win for Syracuse, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Raúl Flores recorded the save for Syracuse, his 1st of the season.
The Rocks had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Starks going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 34-year old shortstop Enrico Sánchez came to the plate. Sánchez hit a 2-run home run on a 1-2 changeup from Plymouth hurler Melvin Turner. It was Sánchez's 1st home run of the year.
"I really like what we did out there today," Suárez said after the game.
