Humpbacks Score Late to Upend Longnecks, 7-6
|
The Alaskan Humpbacks faced a tough opponent in Bloomington pitcher Leon Alfons, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Sea World by a final score of 7-6. Alfons went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Job Janssen picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-2. Govaart van Ankeren was tagged with the loss. The Longnecks, now 44-44, have lost 4 in a row.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Alaskan center fielder Lung Chaim, facing Govaart van Ankeren, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Humpbacks the 7-6 win.
Chaim said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
