The Brinkley Belugas faced a tough opponent in Alaskan pitcher Craig Gunter, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Belugas Ballpark by a final score of 4-2. Gunter went 6 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Brinkley reliever Desiderio Toccafundo was the winner. His record is now 4-0. Craig Gunter took the loss. Fernando Nava notched his 6th save in 8 chances.
Xavier Hernández aided the Brinkley cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman drew 2 walks in 4 trips to the plate.
Alaskan manager John Carney said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The Belugas bumped their record to 48-37 with this latest triumph.
