Supernovas Knock Off Nobles at Jerome Grounds
Matt Méndez knocked in 3 runs to help Scranton beat Bakersfield, 8-5. Méndez produced 2 singles and 1 home run. Scranton reliever Alfredo Franco picked up the win to move to 1-0. Bing-zhong Qiu suffered the loss. Magnus Belli sewed up the save, his 11th.

Méndez contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Scranton in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-2, Méndez took a fastball from Bing-zhong Qiu and stroked the home run to left. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Supernovas to leap in front, 5-3.

"Enjoyed this one," Méndez told the Scranton Daily. "But it's back to work tomorrow."

At 32-44, the Supernovas find themselves in 9th place in the Premier AAA.
