The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes knocked off the Bakersfield Nobles, 9-6, at Crane Field. Juan Ramírez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Santa Barbara won. The right fielder went 2 for 4 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Alan Halsall got the win, improving to 3-2. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 13 hits and 6 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Santa Barbara is now 33-40.
Ed St. James tagged a home run off Pedro Herrera in the bottom of the fifth. His grand slam blast put the Golden Cranes on top, 8-5. In all, St. James had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"It feels good to get this one," Ramírez told the Santa Barbara Daily.
