Despite a great performance by Portland third baseman Billy Dotson, the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids defeated the Evergreens by the score of 12-7 at Evergreen Park. Dotson was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Northern Virginia reliever Javier Ariza got the win, raising his record to 3-1. Keith Rojas was tagged with the loss. Northern Virginia has a 3-game win streak, while Portland has lost 3 in a row.

The outcome might have been different for Northern Virginia, had it not been for Mario Castillo, the fan favorite . Castillo stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put Northern Virginia up, 8-7. For the game, he was 3 for 6, including 2 doubles and 1 single.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Northern Virginia manager David Lister.
