Humpbacks Sink Lynx, 6-4
|
The Alaskan Humpbacks topped the Calgary Lynx, 6-4, with third baseman António Macías playing a big role. Macías went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Humpbacks in the win. The winner was Júlio Valenzuela, who threw 89 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits. The Humpbacks go to 29-21, putting them second in the Premier AAA.
Tied up with the Lynx in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Humpbacks got a boost from second baseman Sigi Lang. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Lang saw a 1-0 cutter from Ricardo Covarrubias and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Alaskan on top, 4-3.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Lang told the Alaskan Daily News.
