A 4-RBI performance from the 26-year old shortstop Nigel Sturges helped the Sacramento Redlegs beat the Texas Bronze Sox, 8-7. The winner was Dan Horan in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Van Lapointe took the loss. Mark Valle earned his 1st save in 1 tries.

With Sacramento leading 3-0 in the bottom of the third, Sturges hit a fastball from Van Lapointe for a grand slam home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Redlegs ahead, 7-0.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Redlegs manager Rich Hunter. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
