Flamingos Score Late, Stun 84s, 4-3
|
There was no shortage of dramatics at The Strip today.
The Las Vegas Flamingos took Greenville pitcher Andrew Moody's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Strip. The final score had Las Vegas getting past the 84s, 4-3. Moody went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 3. Las Vegas reliever Tom Warrawong got the win, raising his record to 3-2. Sima Babic was tagged with the loss.
The Flamingos were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when left fielder Juan Jose Hernández turned a first pitch fastball from Sima Babic into a 2-run home run. The walk-off home run sent a roar through the crowd and gave Las Vegas a thrilling 4-3 win.
Greenville manager John Bosma said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The 84s, now 23-21, have lost 4 in a row.
