Late Rally by Belugas Secures Win
|
Brinkley beat Sacramento at Sacramento Sanitation Station, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to designated hitter John Núńes, who earned player of the game honors. Brinkley reliever Gilberto Chávez was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Hwa-pyung Yi took the loss. Daniel Edwards recorded the save for Brinkley, his 4th of the season.
The most crucial at-bat for Brinkley came in the top of the ninth inning. That's when Núńes stroked a 0-2 fastball to left-center for a 2-run home run, putting Brinkley up, 6-5.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Brinkley manager José Reyes.
The Belugas now own a record of 15-8.
