The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids had to overcome a big game from Greenville catcher Ángelo Delgado to leave Atlantica with a 7-3 victory. Delgado hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Noe Toepfer, the winner, improved to 3-2. He held the 84s to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Northern Virginia has an impressive 29-13 record.
Tim Stinson, who is tied for 6th in the PL in extra base hits with 19, came through for Northern Virginia with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. The catcher went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 2 RBI.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Stinson told the Northern Virginia Times.
