Redlegs Get One-Run Win at Santa Barbara
|
The Sacramento Redlegs did just enough to secure a 6-5 victory over the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes at Crane Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Tim Owens, who captured player of the game honors. The save was credited to Broderick Evans, his 1st. With the win, Sacramento pushes its record to 8-10.
Sacramento used the bat of Nigel Sturges to get the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Redlegs ahead, 6-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Owens.
