Tritons Drop Longnecks with Late Score

Lookouts Ballpark was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Jersey City Tritons and the Bloomington Longnecks.
The Jersey City Tritons eked out a 6-5 win versus the Bloomington Longnecks at Lookouts Ballpark. Nobody did more than pinch hitter Steve Whitehead, who captured player of the game honors. Jersey City reliever Kent Randall was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Francisco García took the loss for Bloomington. Mac Hippenhammer recorded his 7th save for Jersey City.
Whitehead had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch fastball from Francisco García, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Tritons a 6-5 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Whitehead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Whitehead told reporters after the game.
The Tritons, now 10-4, have hit the ground running this season.
