Victory Over Redlegs Takes Bakersfield to 9-5
The Sacramento Redlegs got a superb performance from pitcher Alberto Gómez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Bakersfield. The Nobles won the game, 8-4. In spite of the loss, Gómez was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings allowing 6 runs. Bakersfield reliever Pedro Herrera was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Alberto Gómez took the loss. The Redlegs fall to 6-8 and continue their uneasy start to the 2039 season.

Bakersfield used the timely hitting of Asbel Kiprop to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Nobles ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Kiprop told the Bakersfield Gazette.
