Tritons Get Past Scranton for 2-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring game between the Jersey City Tritons and the Scranton Supernovas, pitcher Randy Carr was masterful on the mound. The Jersey City right-hander was named the player of the game in Jersey City's 2-1 win. Jersey City reliever Tom King was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Kent Horton took the loss. Mac Hippenhammer sewed up the save, his 1st.
The Supernovas had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Tritons going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Conor Gotaas came to the plate. Gotaas hit a run-scoring double on a 1-1 fastball from Scranton hurler Kent Horton. It was Gotaas's 2nd double of the year.
"Randy's tempo and rhythm were good," said Tritons manager John McGrath. "He was the key to us winning."
Jersey City, now 2-1, has played well in the early going.
