Dogfish Head Sneak Past Reserves, 4-3
|
The Milton Dogfish Head topped the Athletic Club KC Reserves, 4-3, in M3L Triple A action at KC Reserve Stadium. The player of the game was Milton pitcher and Brooklyn, New York native Alberto Ortíz. Milton reliever Gunner Cross picked up the win to move to 3-7. Javier Mejía suffered the loss. The 10th-place Dogfish Head now have a win-loss record of 43-54.
Milton used the timely hitting of Carsello Scruggins to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Dogfish Head on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Milton manager Craig Sunter. "It's usually not just one thing."
