Dogfish Head Squelch BC Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Milton Dogfish Head dealt the Houston BC a 5-0 loss at Houston Park. Troy Flynn was the star on offense. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Jason MacGruder, the winner, improved to 3-8. He held the BC to no earned runs on 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Vadim Rajnev earned the save, his 5th, for the Dogfish Head.
The Dogfish Head got a gift in the top of the sixth inning, when they were leading 1-0. With two out and the bases loaded, António González reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. It made the score 2-0, Milton.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Houston manager Juan Cuestas. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
Milton now sits at 32-46, while Houston falls to 40-38.
