Dogfish Head Fall to Timber Hawks, 6-3
|
The Augusta Timber Hawks picked up a win at Timber Hawks Ballpark, knocking off the Milton Dogfish Head, 6-3. Starting pitcher Katsumoto Miyanohara played a key role in the triumph. Miyanohara, now 3-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Roy Lowe, credited with the save, is now 3 for 5 in save opportunities.
The Timber Hawks got a big at-bat from shortstop Hong-bo Zhui. For the game, Zhui went 2 for 3 with a double. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 58th hit of the season gave Augusta a 1-0 lead.
In postgame comments to the Augusta Daily, Miyanohara said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Augusta, now 39-33, holds third place in the Menard's AAA.
