Red Pandas Win in 14
|
Memphis got a terrific performance from center fielder Iiri Haapajarvi, but it wasn't enough to beat the Sioux Falls Red Pandas. Sioux Falls won the Lansing Park contest, 6-4. Haapajarvi was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3-6 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. With the victory, the Red Pandas record now stands at 33-31.
Sioux Falls needed the clutch hitting of Yin-reng Hsueh to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the 14th inning to put the Red Pandas on top, 5-4. For the game, Hsueh had 1 home run and 1 single in 7 at-bats.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Memphis manager Elliott Taylor.
