Silver Sox Come Back Late to Clip 84s
|
With shortstop Melvin Thomas leading the charge, the Chicago Silver Sox defeated the Greenville 84s, 4-3, at Silver Sox Park. Thomas, who leads the PL in RBI with 32, went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. Chicago reliever Eugenio Piñeiro picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Sima Babic absorbed the loss. Chicago is now 20-13, Greenville 17-16.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Thomas hit a slider from Sima Babic for a solo home run. The Silver Sox, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Chicago manager Brett Reichert.
