Victory Pushes Redbirds Record to 28-24
|
The Memphis Redbirds picked up a win at Lansing Park, knocking off the Pennsauken Flyers, 3-1. Starting pitcher Mike Truk, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. In 6.1 innings, Truk surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. António Moreno earned the save, his 9th, for the Redbirds.
Early in the game, first baseman Henry Madore had a 2-run home run for Memphis. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Redbirds on top, 2-0.
In postgame comments to the Memphis Daily, Truk said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Memphis is now riding a 3-game win streak.
