The Houston BC beat the Milton Dogfish Head, 4-3, at Milton Corner Tavern. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter José Vera, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Houston reliever Júlio Rodríguez, now 2-0. The loser was Gunner Cross. Bobby Roode closed it out for his 12th save.
Vera had a game-changing double in the top of the seventh. On a 2-1 cutter from Gunner Cross, he banged a run-scoring double to right, giving the BC a 4-3 lead. It was the 6th double of the year for Vera.
After the game, Houston manager Juan Cuestas applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
Houston currently is in 8th place in the Menard's AAA at 23-21.
